Health Advisory for Your Trip to Myanmar

We would like to provide you with the following information regarding health matters should you fall ill during your trip to Myanmar.

(1) Primary Potential Causes of Illness in Myanmar

  1. Oral infections caused by bacterially contaminated food and drink, such as tap water, raw foods, or pool water.
    • Prevention:Eat only safe, cooked food. Avoid raw foods and be careful not to overeat unusual meals.
  2. Illnesses caused byTravel Fatigue

 Prevention: Due to different lifestyle patterns during travel, please make sure to get enough rest and sleep.

 Prevention: It is important to wear a hat or use a umbrella and drink plenty of fluids.                      

 (2) If You Feel Unwell

  • Please inform your guide immediately.By calling a doctor to your hotel for a simple consultation and medication, your symptoms can often improve relatively quickly. Generally, doctors who visit to hotels are accustomed to treating foreign travelers.

 (3) Utilizing Your Overseas Travel Insurance

  • Coverage:The costs for treatment and medicine for injuries sustained during your trip (if you have coverage for injury treatment), as well as for illnesses (if you have coverage for sickness treatment), can be reimbursed by your insurance company.
  • Payment Process:Please be aware that you will be responsible for paying for any medical services expenses incurred full locally (out-of-pocket) and will then settle the bill with your insurance company upon your return. You will then settle the reimbursement with your insurance company after returning to your home country.
  • Important:For your claim, you must obtain and keep all original documents from the local provider, including itemized receipts for payments, the doctor’s official diagnosis report, and pharmacy receipts.
  • Please Note:Dental treatment is typically excluded from standard international travel insurance policies and will be your personal financial responsibility.

Be aware: We recommend that you take out overseas travel insurance before departing for Japan. In the unlikely event of an accident, the amount of coverage in Myanmar is extremely low, and the situation is not satisfactory.
